VARSITIES NO LONGER NEED TO WAIT FOR AICTE APPROVAL TO START ODL
UGC announced that state, central and private Universities no longer have to wait for AICTE approval before starting Online or Distance Learning Program. This entails approval for any post graduation, under graduation and PG Diploma programs.
Nevertheless, Deemed-to-be Universities will have to wait for prior approval/recommendation/NOC for offering any online or distance learning program and then take approval from UGC (University Grants Commission).
Earlier, UGC’s Open Distance Learning and Online Program Regulations 2020, had made it mandatory for Higher Educational Institutions to have prior approval of AICTE before submitting applications to UGC.
