The University of North Bengal (NBU) was established in 1962 by an Act of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly. It was the first university in the North Bengal region. NBU CDOE Programs

The fees below cover the whole programme, set out clearly for easy reference. CDOE builds them from its official, clearly published semester-wise fee structure. This includes the Online Application Fee, Enrolment Fee, and Course Fee each semester. It also kindly includes the Registration Fee for non-NBU learners and the Identity Card Fee. A Certificate/Diploma Fee applies in the final semester, plus a per-semester Examination Fee and Examination Centre Fee. The Late Fee and Reappear Examination Fee are not included, since they apply only in special cases. See the helpful note under each table.

North Bengal University UG Courses Online

Extra fees stay simple and apply only in specific cases. A modest, fair Late Fee of ₹300 per semester covers late payments. A Reappear Examination Fee of ₹1,000 applies if a learner needs to re-sit a paper, a fair and modest cost.

The same clear fee and duration schedule applies across all ten UG programmes, a simple and consistent setup. Right now, only B.Com. appears in the active admission portal (admcdoe.nbu.ac.in) and the July 2026 Information Booklet, the one clear document with full eligibility details. The other nine B.A. subjects have published CBCS 2018-19 syllabi on the CDOE Programmes page, a helpful reference. They are not yet listed as open for the current admission cycle. Their eligibility here simply reflects CDOE's standard UG entry rule: a 10+2 pass from a recognised board.

North Bengal University PG Courses Online

A modest Late Fee runs ₹300 per semester in Semesters I–II, dropping to a friendlier ₹250 in Semesters III–IV. A fair Reappear Examination Fee of ₹1,000 applies if needed. All 7 PG programmes are open now for the July 2026 session, great news for postgraduate learners.

CDOE NBU Fee Refunds and Scholarships

Refunds follow the clear UGC Fee Refund Policy (D.O. No. F.2-7/2022(CPP-II), 12 June 2024), a fair and transparent rule. Learners enjoy a full refund before 15 days of the admission deadline, a fair and generous rule. They get 90% within 15 days before, and 80% up to 15 days after. A further, still-generous 50% applies for 16 to 30 days after. Only a small, modest processing fee of up to ₹1,000 applies.

CDOE's own scholarship support centres on the AAY/BPL fee concession above. Learners who find outside scholarships from private, state, or central sources are welcome to pursue these on their own. CDOE offers sensible, protective advice here. Always verify an offer directly, and keep bank details, Aadhaar, and passwords safely private.

NBU CDOE Admission

A quick eligibility note for foreign learners: under UGC notification F.No.12-1/2024 (DEB-I), dated 26 April 2024, foreign nationals cannot enrol. This rule covers ODL programmes specifically. CDOE's current programmes, including B.Com., the nine other UG subjects, and the seven M.A. subjects, all run in ODL mode. This process is therefore open to Indian applicants only. Foreign learners have a good alternative: a separately designated online programme at a recognised institution.

The steps below make registration genuinely simple.

1. Generate an ABC ID. Register at abc.gov.in for an Academic Bank of Credits ID, a fast and easy step. Skip this if you already hold one.

2. Generate a DEB Unique ID. Simply visit the helpful UGC-DEB portal for your DEB Unique ID. This is a required, but quick, step for all ODL admissions.

3. Create your account. Register at admcdoe.nbu.ac.in with your email and mobile number. CDOE then sends a handy login link for easy verification.

4. Fill in the application form. Enter your personal details, and upload a clear photograph and signature. Pick your programme and subjects using the helpful syllabus on the CDOE website.

5. Pay the admission and course fee online. Use a debit card, credit card, or net banking. It's a secure and fast option. Confirmation arrives right away, which is reassuring.

6. Upload your documents. These include your Madhyamik and H.S. mark sheets, plus your graduation mark sheet for PG applicants. Simply add your registration certificate and a migration certificate where needed. Simply add category certificates where applicable too, plus your Aadhaar and PAN copies.

7. Download and print your form and receipt once you submit, an easy, satisfying final click.

8. Submit your papers for verification. Just bring the printed form and fee receipt. Add photocopies and original documents, and hand them to the CDOE office within the admission schedule.

9. Receive your Enrolment Card and SLM. CDOE issues your Enrolment-cum-Identity Card once your documents check out. Your first Self Learning Materials arrive too, a satisfying finish.

For the July 2026 session, the portal opened on 15 July 2026 and closes on 15 September 2026. Document checks stay a quick, simple step, needed within just 10 working days of admission.

Your Enrolment Number and Identity Card

• Enrolment Number: given on admission, and valid for your entire time at CDOE. You will need it for every message to CDOE.

• Identity-cum-Enrolment Card: issued with your Enrolment Number, a handy all-in-one item. Keep it safe, and show it for Personal Contact Programmes (PCP), exams, and SLM pickup.

• Misplaced card: simply report it at the local police station, and CDOE will issue a fresh one, a straightforward fix.

• Worn card: CDOE happily issues a fresh one once a small fee is paid.

NBU Online Documents Required After Admission

CDOE asks for a bit more paperwork at two later, clearly marked points.

For registration or migration, at admission if it applies:

• P.G. candidates who already hold an NBU degree, and have not switched universities, benefit from an easy shortcut. They can simply quote their existing Registration Number and session.

• Candidates from another university submit their original Migration Certificate at admission. Admission stays comfortably open for up to one month while this arrives. Submitting it promptly keeps everything on track.

• Candidates still registered elsewhere, and not migrating, can easily collect a short form from the CDOE office. They hand it in with their Migration Certificate and one photo, then pick up a new registration certificate in person.

For the final Degree Certificate, at programme completion:

• Original Registration Certificate.

• CDOE Identity Card (or, if misplaced, a simple police General Diary copy instead).

• Original mark sheet, on a case-by-case basis.

Learners also bring one attested or self-attested copy of each document, a simple and fair rule. CDOE issues the Degree Certificate once a learner clears every semester's assignments and exams.

NBU Online Learning Management: How CDOE Students Study

CDOE teaching relies on clear, well-prepared Self Learning Material (SLM) rather than live online classes. Skilled in-house and external experts happily write each paper's SLM. Careful editors then review it for quality. CDOE hands it out at admission, or on notified dates, at the Learner Support Centres.

Digital copies are happily available too, a genuinely handy extra. The eSLM library on cdoe.nbu.ac.in sorts content by programme, subject, semester, and paper code, so it is easy to browse. Each paper splits into neat, downloadable PDF blocks that students can reach any time.

Two simple portals cover different needs. Applicants use admcdoe.nbu.ac.in to create an account and track their application. cdoe.nbu.ac.in hosts the eSLM library, assignment downloads, notices, and a handy Download Centre.

CDOE also runs a Personal Contact Programme (PCP) each semester, giving learners valuable face-to-face or counselling time with teachers. CDOE faculty offer steady counselling support all year during working hours, a genuine comfort for learners.

Learners can also use a computerised central library, free internet at the support centres, and a friendly help desk. Phone support covers admission and academic queries, a reliable and welcome touch.

Teaching and SLM are helpfully in English, except for the Bengali, Hindi, and Nepali language subjects. In exams, learners may answer in English or Bengali for any subject besides the language papers, a genuinely flexible choice.

NBU Online Exam Pattern

M.A. programmes have 16 papers across 4 semesters, a clear and simple structure. Each paper carries 100 marks. Of these, 75 go to the Semester-End Written Examination, and 25 to two internal assignments worth 15 and 10 marks. The written paper has 3 essay questions worth 20 marks each. It also has 2 short-answer questions worth 8 and 7 marks, each with a fair internal choice. Students comfortably finish it in 3 hours. Credits split 3:1 between the written exam and the internal assessment.

B.Com. follows the well-organised Four-Year Undergraduate Programme framework, a modern and flexible design. Marks and credits vary by paper type, laid out simply below.

• Major papers: 4 credits, 80 marks.

• Minor papers: 4 credits, 80 marks.

• Skill Enhancement Course papers: 3 credits, 80 marks.

• Multidisciplinary Course papers: 3 credits, 80 marks.

• Ability Enhancement Course papers: 2 credits, 60 marks.

• Value Added Course papers: 4 credits, 100 marks, with a simple, fixed 30-question MCQ paper over 1.5 hours.

Each paper pairs a term-end written exam with internal assessment, at the same fair 3:1 weighting. Students get a flexible, welcome choice. They can exit with a UG Certificate after 2 semesters. Or they can take a UG Diploma after 4 semesters, or the full UG Degree after 6 semesters. Honours or Honours with Research extends to 8 semesters.

The other nine B.A. subjects follow the same clear CDOE rule: a term-end written exam paired with internal assessment, at the same 3:1 weighting. These subjects are Education, English, Environmental Studies, History, Nepali, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, and B.A. General. Their syllabi sit under the older CBCS 2018-19 curriculum. CDOE has simply not yet published a paper-by-paper breakdown for these, unlike the M.A. programmes and B.Com.

How University of North Bengal CDOE Students Appear for Exams 

CDOE holds exams at the end of each semester, on a clear schedule set by the Controller of Examinations. Students get to pick a convenient centre from nearby affiliated colleges, a genuinely helpful option. This saves them from travelling to the main campus. Exam forms for all subjects reach each learner by post, with clear steps. Students return the completed form by registered post before the deadline, and an admit card follows soon after.

A student can sit a semester's exam only once the one before it is cleared. A gap between semesters simply needs prior written permission from CDOE, an easy formality. Each semester exam allows up to 3 attempts in a row, a fair and generous allowance, including the first try. Unused attempts expire after the semester's examination window closes.

Maximum programme length follows a simple, welcome rule: N plus 2 years, where N is the normal duration. This gives students up to 5 years for B.Com./B.A. programmes, and up to 4 years for an M.A. programme.

University of North Bengal CODE Assignment Submission

Every paper helpfully includes assignments as part of internal assessment. CDOE posts question papers on the Assignments section of cdoe.nbu.ac.in, a genuinely helpful resource. They are sorted by year, session, level, subject, and semester. Each one downloads easily as a simple, convenient PDF.

Students write their answers on a Student Response Sheet and submit it comfortably by the session deadline. CDOE clearly announces the exact window through its Notifications page each cycle. Checking the latest notice, rather than guessing a date, is a smart habit.

Assignment marks feed into the internal assessment score, at the same fair 3:1 weighting against the written exam. Submitting on time genuinely helps the final grade for each paper.

University of North Bengal CODE Student Support: Concern Resolution

CDOE backs learners with a concern-resolution process, officially called the Grievance Redressal System (GRS). It was set up under the UGC (ODL Programmes and OL Programmes) Regulations, 2020. Learners can raise a concern about programme quality, resources, support, or teaching, alone or together with others.

To raise a concern, learners can simply email CDOE, an easy first step. CDOE logs every concern and sends it to a dedicated review Committee, led by the Director of CDOE. The Committee asks the right coordinator or counsellor to sort it out within two weeks. The Committee Chair keeps an eye on progress throughout.

Learners can comfortably ask for a further review within 5 days. They can go through the Director or the University's Learner Support Committee. Reviewers then respond promptly, within a week. Learners keep full privacy throughout. They also get the freedom to step back at any point without penalty, plus regular updates along the way. Once settled, the Committee shares its decision, its reasoning, and its actions in writing.
